    Drawing Stars

Words and Music by Dawn Xiana Moon

When you're five you're drawing stars in kindergarten
Wondering what you'll be when you grow up
It doesn't matter that you draw the stars with purple crayons
Or that you color outside the lines

Your parents, your teachers, they praise your creativity
'Cause the world is a great big piece of paper waiting for you
    To color in

Then one day you graduate from college
And they say you'd better get that resumé in line
It's not ok to color outside the lines
There's not much room for creativity in this corporate world

Work 9-5, be a success, stick to the safe dreams
They say the world is a great big oyster waiting for you
    To open it

Greater than the death of flesh is death of hope, the death of dreams
--I give you time unlimited to fly--
Find your passion, find the thing you know that you were called to do

There's almost nothing in my bank account
But I'm still trying to chase this dream
I don't have much to give
But at least I can give you a song

I don't have much to give
But at least I can give you a song
